WOODLAND-

The Yolo County Superior Court announced that Aquelin Talamantes, the woman charged in the death of her daughter, will face new charges.

Talamantes now faces two felony counts of battery on a correction officer and one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.

Officials did not release details regarding the alleged attack on the correctional officer.

Talamentes will be back in court Tuesday afternoon.

YOLO COUNTY –

What was supposed to be a preliminary hearing for Aqualin Talamantes, the woman accused of killing her own daughter, turned out to just be a brief visit inside of the Yolo County Courthouse Friday morning.

Talamantes sat silently, only speaking with the Sheriff’s Deputy and her public defender.

The reason for the short visit: Judge David Reid allowed the public defender’s motion to allow her client to undergo psychological evaluation to determine if she is competent enough to stand trial.

A few family members of Talamantes were in court today. As they left they simply said no comment, adding they will talk after the complete trial is over

The preliminary hearing has been rescheduled for Dec. 9 at 9 a.m., pending Talamantes’ psychological evaluation.

CaptureSACRAMENTO –

The Sacramento County Coroner has released the cause and manner of death for the five-year-old girl found dead in the trunk of her mother’s car.

Officially, the cause of Tatiana Alexia Rose Garcia’s death is drowning, and the manner of her death is by homicide. On Sept. 26, police found Garcia unconscious in the back of the car near Pocket Road and West Shore Drive. First responders tried to perform CPR on Garcia, but it was already too late.

Garcia’s mother, Aquelin Talamantes, 29, was taken into custody and was later charged with murder and a felony charge of assault. According to neighbors, a fight between Talamantes and a man preceeded the child being put in the trunk. Talamantes has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

DAVIS —

Family can’t get the loveable image of 5-year-old Tatianna out of their heads.

They’ll never have the chance to hold her in their arms again.

Today, the only indication police were outside the home she shared with her mother, Aquelin Talamantes, last night: a piece of yellow crime scene tape still tied around the sprinkler.

The family is still in tears, after police found Tatianna’s body in the trunk of the mother’s car.

The family tells FOX40 there was a history of mental illness the mother suffered.

“The backgrounds on the suspect, the victim and anybody involved, they’re usually thoroughly investigated in a case like this,” said Lieutenant Paul Doroshov of the Davis Police Department.

Family members themselves seek counseling and ask for help for Tatianna’s burial. After we spoke, they requested privacy.

Sacramento Police made the gruesome discovery yesterday outside this apartment complex on pocket road.

Lt. Doroshov told FOX40 a Davis officer checked on mother and child yesterday morning, after a motor officer made an unrelated traffic stop outside the home. Police said Talamantes told the officer she wasn’t able to care for her child. But police left after everything looked in order in and around the home.

But officers returned after family worried they hadn’t seen the girl with her mother.

SACRAMENTO–

Police have arrested a Davis woman in connection to the death of her 5-year-old daughter, Sacramento Police announced Thursday night.

The woman has been identified as 29-year-old Davis resident Aquelin Talamantes. She has been charged with murder.

According to a release from the Sacramento Police Department, around 2:35 p.m. officers showed up to an apartment complex near Pocket Road and W. Shore Drive to check up on the welfare of the girl. Family members of Talamantes called police after getting more and more concerned about the girl’s condition after the woman had apparently driven to Sacramento without the 5-year-old.

Officers at the scene talked to Talamantes and the 5-year-old was soon found in the trunk of her car.

The girl was found to be unresponsive and both the officers and bystanders started CPR. The girl was soon rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.

“It is very sad. This is a very family oriented area.  It is just very sad know this happened right where you live,” said Rebecca Swell, a neighbor.

Police are now searching Talamantes’ home in Davis along Glide Drive.

Neighbors have told FOX40 that a fight between the girl’s mother and a man preceded the child being put in the trunk.

The girl was originally identified as being 4-years-old, but police have since revised their number.
