OLD SACRAMENTO -
Old Sacramento’s iconic toy store, G. Willikers Toy Emporium, released their “12 Toys of Christmas” list.
Just like Santa’s elves, the store’s
staff collaborates to put together the perfect set of toys each year.
Some of the toys on this year’s list are Japanese building blocks, a dice game, and an electronic hot potato.

Long before most children make their own Christmas list, G. Willikers Toy Emporium’s staff pick their best toys for their “12 Toys of Christmas” list.
The team starts brainstorming in September with about 30 toys, and it then takes them about a month to narrow the list down to the final 12.
Owner Toy Carlson explained why the process takes so long, “If it’s a toy we don’t carry, we look to carry it. When we make the list, we don’t make it based on what we have.”
The store looks far and wide for the perfect toy they believe is educational, popular and something a kid won’t easily get bored of.
One toy featured on their top 12 list this year is the Kendama. The wooden toy has three cups, a spike and a ball, and requires skill and balance, which Carlson compares to a yo-yo.
Other toys on the list this year are Nanoblocks (Japanese building toys), Extreme Dot-to-Dot Books, Tenzi (a dice game) and an Electronic Hot Potato.
