SACRAMENTO-
California State University, Sacramento and U.C. Davis gained a combined 32 football players Wednesday on National Signing Day.
Sac State added 17 athletes, including five from the immediate Sacramento area.
U.C. Davis added 15 signees, including one from Portland, Ore.
The 17 new Sac State athletes join nine midyear signees.
Five-star defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes has signed his letter of intent to play football at the University of Notre Dame.
Vanderdoes, a senior at Placer High School, was one of the most sought-after recruits in northern California. He was visited by recruiters from University of Alabama, USC, UCLA and Washington.

- Lincoln High School seniors Chris Valeros, Zack Greenlee and Osha Washington sign their letters of intent. A fourth senior, Justin Davis, signed early and is already at USC.
- Cosumnes Oaks senior Kyle Saxelid (pictured with his parents) has accepted a scholarship from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to play offensive tackle.
- Tokay High School senior Bailey Penix signing her letter of intent to play women’s soccer at the University of the Pacific.
15 students from Granite Bay High School signed letters of intent. Eric Rucker caught up with one of the lucky recipients.
