CITRUS HEIGHTS–

Kameron Collins’ parents say their son was a budding architect who used everything around him to build something.

Sunrise Boulevard near Sayonara Drive was shut down for a time on New Year’s Eve during the investigation into the accident that took Collins’ life.

Funeral services for Kameron Collins will be held Tuesday. The driver will likely not be charged, as police say they think it was just a tragic accident.

CITRUS HEIGHTS–

Family and the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office have identified the Citrus Heights boy hit and killed by a car Monday night as 3-year-old Kameron Collins.

Sunrise Boulevard near Sayonara Drive was shut down for a time Monday night after the boy was hit. He was taken to an area hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

Police are investigating the driver, and will figure out if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Police added that the driver remained at the scene and “fully cooperated” with officers.

Investigators are also still piecing together how the boy was able to wander into the street.
