Monday will begin with some lingering valley showers and Sierra snow after a night when the snow level dropped to near 3,000 feet. The afternoon will be partly-to-mostly cloudy with temperatures reaching the mid-50s in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys. Communities in the upper foothills and Sierra will see temperatures peak in the 40s. Tuesday is looking calm and dry. A stronger weather system arrives Wednesday with some periods of steady rain and heavy Sierra snow Wednesday into Thursday.
