Seven years has been way too long.

“It has been seven years,” explained Nevada Union Head Football Coach Dave Humphers.  “It’s unfortunate because it’s always been such a great game.”

Humphers is telling the truth.  In 19 meetings between the Miners and Grant Pacers the all-time series is tied 15-15-1.

The last meeting between the two, however, wasn’t so great.  Back in 2005, Nevada Union throttled the Pacers 30-0 in a Sac Joaquin Section playoff game at Hughes Stadium.  But now the rivalry is back, at least this year.

Friday night Grant will host N.U. in a game that will feature 2 of the top 5 high school programs in the area.

“It’s the biggest game of my life,” explained Miners quarterback Kyle Cota.

“We pride ourselves on defense, so does Grant,” commented Humphers.  “We score a lot of points with our offense, so does Grant.  I think people are in for a treat if they come out to this game Friday night.”
