The Reno National Championship Air Races return September 12th through 16th to Northern Nevada for the 49th annual event.

This follows last year’s tragedy at the airshow, when pilot Jimmy Leeward lost control of his P51 Mustang and crashed into the stands. The crash killed ten people and injured dozens others. Preliminary reports indicated that Leeward’s plane had been damaged prior to the crash.

The 2012 races will feature emotional tribute ceremonies to remember and celebrate the lives of those lost as well as featuring one of the world’s most advanced military aircraft.

The event will take place at the Reno-Stead Airfield.
