NORTH HIGHLANDS–
Authorities have identified the pedestrian struck by a car Sunday night as 42-year-old Tanya Butler from Rio Linda.
The accident happened near 32nd Street, north of Freedom Park Drive, around 8:30 p.m. As FOX40 reported Sunday, and as CHP note in a release, the roadway is dark with no streetlights.
Butler looks to have been either walking in or trying to cross the roadway when a Mitsubishi Galant hit her at around 35 mph. She was wearing dark clothing at the time.
A toxicology report is pending on Butler, to see if alcohol or drugs are a contributing factor in the collision.
The driver, 33-year-old Robyn King from Rio Linda, and an 8-year-old passenger were not hurt.
