Two brothers involved in a crash on Friday are at UC Davis Medical Center Saturday night.
Juan Perez-Rocha, 8, is said to be okay. Henry Perez-Rocha, 6, is in critical condition at the ICU.
The brothers lived less than half a mile from the crash site at an apartment complex.
Also living there was the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident – who said the accident was too traumatic to talk about on camera.
The woman who caused it all was Teresa Bales-Sterba. She lives about three miles from the crash site.
We tried to contact her in her Orangevale home, but no one answered.
Bales-Sterba was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Although they declined to go on camera, neighbors said she was a nice woman and they were shocked to hear the news.
The brothers were on their way to school when Sterba’s Chyrsler crashed into a Suburban. The Chrysler spun out of control and hit the boys hard enough to knock them from their shoes.
Bales-Sterba posted bail this morning from Sacramento county jail. Her bail was set at $100,000.
