Pole Catches Fire on Riverside Blvd.

SACRAMENTO– Sounds backward, but heavy rains caused a pole on Riverside Boulevard to go up in flames.

It happened after the rain came down on the brittle casing holding the wires.

When the rain hit the brittle case, it cracked, which in turn caused the wires to spark.

SMUD officials says the case became weak after the long period of hot weather.

Luckily, emergency crews were able to quickly put the fire out.

SMUD officials are now working to make sure the wires are safe, and won’t cause anymore damage.

Cracked due to hot weather, Ya OK. This years, last year, or the year before's?
SMUD Stated like they replace the casings every year. Right!
Sounds more like worn out original equipment. Left sitting on the back burrner of things to be done, but never seem to get fixed.
Like they replace these casings every year. NOT!
    Were not stupid, SMUD
