HONOLULU(CNN)-

The National Weather Service Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has ended the tsunami advisory for the state of Hawaii.

Most places in Hawaii are on the fourth tsunami wave, Pacific Tsunami Warning Center’s Gerard Fryer told reporters, noting that the data now shows the evacuation may not have been necessary — but was still a good precaution.

The warning was prompted after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of British Columbia.
