A woman who had escaped from a California prison 12 years was captured in Fairfax, Va., the Department of Corrections announced Wednesday.
Carolyn Macy escaped from a Los Angeles-area detention center in February 2000. The Department of Corrections say Macy was sent to state prison in 1999 for several theft charges, including identity theft.
A special agent with the Department of Corrections, through leads, was able to find out that Macy had moved to Virginia. Officers in Virginia investigated further and eventually arrested her.
Investigators say Macy was still involved in identity theft may soon face more charges.
