A pedestrian was dragged and killed by a light rail train between the Globe Station and the Arden/Del Paso Station Tuesday afternoon.

The line of track between the two stations, stretching about a half mile, is shut down while Sacramento Regional Transit and Police officers investigate the scene.

The man reportedly was climbing between the first and second cars of a four-car train at the Globe Station, at Globe Avenue and Del Paso Boulevard at about 3:50 p.m.

Witnesses say the man may have been intoxicated.

RT issued a service disruption on the blue line. Shuttle buses will drive passengers between the Alkali Flat/La Valentina station to the Marconi station.

Sacramento Police and RT officers have their hands full with major street closures and securing a huge fatal incident scene. Police staffing shortages mean many pending calls for service city-wide will result in a delayed response. Sacramento has the hardest working professionals, yet they are among the lowest paid sworn officers in the region.

Meanwhile, their police chief and City Council spent the evening session tonight bidding their peers Sandy Sheedy and RK Fong farewell. Our Crimewatch partners hope future council members will end the years of cuts to our rank and file police officers. I respect many of the good things that both Sheedy and Fong did for their districts while holding them responsible for their votes when it comes to public and police officer safety in California's capital city. It is NOT something to take pride in.

I was just wondering if the man was ever identified..?? I’ve been checking the news & haven’t found anything posted about it since like the day after the incident happened. I witnessed it & was the first to call 911 & had to wait around for the cops to show up. The gruesome image of his mangled body is still etched in my brain. It was horrible! I just want to know if he was ever identified.
