Detectives have arrested a man in connection to an October shooting that left a 35-year-old dead.

Carl Murphy, 32, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Friday. Detectives believe he is the man responsible for killing Rodrick Alexander. Back on Oct. 22, Alexander was taken to the UC Davis Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the head. He died five days later.

Detectives later pieced together that the shooting happened near Austell Way and Fernridge Drive. An argument between Alexander and Murphy reportedly preceded the shooting.

Another man who was with Murphy at the time of the shooting is being sought by detectives. Sheriff’s note that he is not a suspect and is only wanted for information on the shooting.

Murphy faces murder charges and is being held at Sacramento County Jail without bail.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (916) 874-5115.
