A sleeping woman was kidnapped when the car she was in was stolen.

The 28-year-old woman was asleep in the passenger seat as the driver stopped for gas in Stockton. The suspect, identified as Richard Alcantara, was at the gas station, jumped into the driver’s seat and took off.

The car’s owner was able to call the sleeping passenger and wake her up.

She was then able to tell police where the driver was heading. The car was found near I-5, but Alcantara had run off.

The woman appears to be ok.
