Family and the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office have identified the Citrus Heights boy hit and killed by a car Monday night as 3-year-old Kameron Collins.

Sunrise Boulevard near Sayonara Drive was shut down for a time Monday night after the boy was hit. He was taken to an area hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

Police are investigating the driver, and will figure out if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Police added that the driver remained at the scene and “fully cooperated” with officers.

Investigators are also still piecing together how the boy was able to wander into the street.

We are still following this incident closely. Keep checking FOX40 and for any updates.

This is so sad this little boys parents should be charged with neglectfor not watching him ugh some people should not be aloud to have kids and if they have more kids they should be taken so they can be safe

Please be careful what you say. First, this is my family that you are speaking of and when anything like this happens we are quick to point a finger about what WE would do different. Everyone is a great parent until ONE mistake causes such an unexplained event such as this one. Look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself have you ever had a mistake with your child that you wish you could take back…I know I can say that. Second, I dont be blind to the devastation my family is feeling due to READING what is going on, how about try to help!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous commenter please have a little respect for my grieving sister…she loves all three of her children very dearly…im guessing you don’t have any kids talking without any solid information before leaving a disgusting comment…your attitude towards my sister without knowing her shows that your a person of no remorse…really how would you feel if you had someone close to you die because of and accident, would you slander their name too..

It is a shame…on both sides; however when the story first broke, it was stated that the family was looking for donations to help with the funeral. My first comment was not posted. I’m hoping this one will. No parent should allow a small child to walk across a street without holding a hand or being carried. PERIOD!
