SOUTH LAKE TAHOE-
The body of a teen, missing since New Year’s Eve, has been found off the road in the snow in South Lake Tahoe.
Alyssa Byrne went to the Snow Globe Music Festival in South Lake Tahoe for New Year’s Eve celebrations, then was never seen again.
A utility worker in South Lake Tahoe found the body of a woman about ten feet off the road. The body was identified as 19-year-old Byrne.
She was fully clothed, with no visible trauma. However, where she was lying was not visible from the road because of the snow piles.
El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies will be investigating the death. However, officials say there were transportation issues Monday night, and there was a long wait for shuttle buses from the community college where the concert was being held.
Some concert-goers opted to walk back. Although officials are not commenting yet on a cause of death, it appears plausible that Byrne chose to walk back, and may have fallen off the road. She was staying at the Horizon Casino across the Nevada border.
Overnight temperatures dipped between zero and ten degrees.
Tweets sent on Byrnes account appear to be from a friend, in memory of the teen.
