Patrick Kendrick, 32, has been identified as the Sacramento man who was killed before having his apartment set on fire to conceal evidence of the crime.

Firefighters responded to the fire Friday morning at an apartment on Norwood Avenue. They discovered a body inside and called police.

Authorities confirm the man had “trauma” to his body, which caused his death. The fire was likely a cover-up attempt, police say.

Patrick’s mother, Debbie Scheible, says any force used against her son was overkill. She says he had Crone’s Disease, leaving him grossly underweight.

“He could hardly eat, he was in so much pain,” Scheible said.

Debbie says she will have trouble paying for a funeral for her son. She asks people to send donations to:

3739 Norwood Ave. Apt. B

Sacramento, CA 95838

Police have not release any information about a motive.
