Police say that the driver who hit and killed a 79-year-old woman attending a vigil Monday night for another person hit and killed by a car has been cooperating with the investigation.

The vigil was along El Camino Avenue near Colfax Street. Demaris Ingram died there early Sunday morning in what investigators say was an alcohol-related crash. The driver in that incident was arrested.

Monday, around 8:16 p.m., the woman was said to be crossing the same street to leave flowers. She reportedly did not know Sunday’s victim, but lived across the street from where Ingram was hit. She was killed instantly, officers say.

Tuesday, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office listed 79-year-old Sacramento resident Kathryn O’Farrell as a person killed along El Camino Avenue Monday.

Police note that alcohol doesn’t look to be a factor in the accident.
