Hundreds gathered in the quad of Brete Harte Union High School Wednesday evening to remember two siblings, 14-year-old Micaila and Alex, 17.

Deputies say the two were shot and killed by their father, Phillip Marshall, Saturday before he killed himself.

The vigil was organized entirely by the high school’s student leadership group. More than 500 candles were passed out to hundreds of mourners.

“They are still here. They’re definitely still with us,” said Sean Plummer, mother of the two slain teens.

She was on a business trip in Turkey when she received the word about her children.

“I’ve only been back for two days, I haven’t even processed what has happened,” she told FOX40.

More than 40 friends of Micaila and Alex have showed their support for the last two nights by bunking with Plummer.

“The kids at this high school have stepped up and shown so much courage and strength, and a lot of love.” Plummer said.
