He’s second in the bantamweight division of UFC fighters. For the first time, Modesto native Michael McDonald was out to take the title — going up against Renan Barao in London.
McDonald’s friends gathered to watch the fight at a local bar in Modesto on Saturday.
“I predict a fast knockout,” said McDonald’s friend.
McDonald is the youngest UFC fighter, ever. In his short career he’s netted 15 wins and only two losses.
“It’s my first time out of the country and also my first time going for the UFC title,” said McDonald, days before he was set to fly out to England.
The fight lasted four rounds; McDonald lost by submission but has no plans on tapping out.
“I’ve always been motivated to try to prove things to myself,” said McDonald.
