Police have arrested one of their own after allegations that a West Sacramento Police officer sexually assaulted six women – while in the line of duty.
Sergio Alvarez, 37, was put on administrative leave back on Sep. 24 after information surfaced on his alleged misconduct.
The investigation progressed and six women, aged 20 to 47 years old, were identified as victims. Authorities note that all the women frequented the West Capitol Avenue area.
Alvarez is alleged to have used his position as a police officer to stop the women. He would then assault them.
After a review of the investigation by a Grand Jury, Alvarez was indicted and terminated. He has since been arrested and is in custody at the Yolo County Jail.
Alvarez, employed by the City of West Sacramento since 2007, faces sexual assault and kidnapping charges.
