The Sacramento Sheriff’s Department announced Monday that nearly 80,000 counterfeit CDs and DVDs were seized over the weekend.
Authorities note that the search warrants were served in Yuba County and San Jose by agents with the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force. Officers from several different jurisdictions make up the unit.
About 50,000 counterfeit CDs and 30,000 counterfeit DVDs were seized in the operation, along with $26,000 in cash that authorities believe are a part of the profits made from the bootleg operation.
Along with the bootleg items, 10 people connected to the operation were also arrested.
