Phillip Goodman of Elverta was arrested on Friday by a Sacramento Sheriff’s deputy who happened upon the scene of an alleged sexual assault.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, Goodman, 33, approached a 29-year-old developmentally disabled man outside a grocery store at Watt Avenue and Elverta Road, making threats, demanding that the man go behind the store with him.
The victim complied out of fear for his life, and was allegedly sexually assaulted behind the store by Goodman.
A Sacramento Sheriff’s deputy happened to drive behind the store shortly thereafter, looking for a quiet place to clear a call on her laptop. The victim approached the patrol car, followed by Goodman, and reported the incident to the deputy.
Goodman tried to explain away the circumstances, according to the Sheriff’s Department, but the deputy did not believe his statements. He was arrested.
