A 16-year-old boy was arrested early Tuesday morning for allegedly stealing a car, police say.

Police did a registration check on a car near Tiffany and 11th streets around 12:20 a.m. and found it to be one reported stolen back on Thursday.

The officers tailed the stolen car for a bit, waiting for some backup to show up, only to see the car pull over along Ida Avenue. Two boys got out and tried running to an apartment complex, but the officers were able to catch the driver of the car.

Apparently, the other boy was able to get away.

The driver was arrested and charged for grand theft auto and possession of stolen property as he was booked into juvenile hall.
