Witnesses say road rage, gang ties and trash talk caused a bad situation outside the McDonald’s on Freeport Boulevard.
“I (saw) the gun shots but I though he missed then so I looked back and I (saw) blood spurting out of her thigh,” said Teno Ouch, who was outside when the shooting happened.
Witnesses say a driver in a silver sedan was trying to pull into the McDonald’s parking lot at the same time someone else was crossing the entrance. Witnesses say the driver didn’t like waiting.
“The guy in the car almost hit the guy, the pedestrian walking. So I guess they started arguing. They brought up a gang, each their own gang,” said Ouch.
“Saying I am going to beat your behind and stuff, and then after that he was like no I don’t fight I don’t fight he said I just body people,” said Sousae Chao, another witness.
Witnesses say moments later, the driver pulled a gun and opened fire. But, he missed his target and instead hit a 21-year-old woman in the thigh.
“At this point we do not think she was the intended target we have another person who thinks they were the one getting shot at,” said Sargent William Wann, with Sacramento Police.
The woman was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
Police have a very poor suspect description to go on. All they know is that one or two males in a silver sedan headed north on Freeport after the shooting, although there is apparently very good surveillance video police hope might reveal the shooter.
