It’s a situation no one wants to be in – caught in the jaw lock of a Pit Bull.
“If you’re trained in karate, those moves could come in handy,” Veterinarian Dr. Jyl Rubin told FOX40.
The best advice, she says, is to protect your vital organs. Even better, avoid the attack altogether.
“Dogs are like people. If you don’t want a fight, don’t look for one.” she says don’t make eye contact.
If you find yourself in a situation where you can’t avoid an attack, it’s best to get something between you and the dog.
“Try and use an object to pry the dogs mouth open.” Rubin told FOX40. “Don’t run and don’t pull away.”
As a last resort, she says, call for help. Rubin also notes that there’s no such thing as bad dogs, just bad owners.
