A Modesto-area toddler is in critical condition after a near drowning incident.

Unfortunately, as authorities warn, the incident will likely happen again.

A toddler no more than 2-years-old was found in the family pool.

Her parents were entertaining friends in the house when they realized the little girl was missing and they started searching the house.

CPR was started and an emergency crew continued doing CPR until she was taken to a nearby hospital where her condition is grave.

Fire officials say parents often get too complacent about child safety. Further, with the increase in temperature, authorities warn of the dangers of swimming in areas not meant for swimming.

The water on the surface of a canal may look calm, but the current underneath could be chaotic.

Officials advise people to stick to areas made for swimming.
