Public Selects Baby Monkey’s Name

With more than 96,000 votes cast, a new baby monkey at the Sacramento Zoo has a name; Zuri.

The Wolf’s Guenon monkey was born January 26. This species is native to central Africa, and eats fruits, seeds, and insects. The zoo presented five possible names, and opened public voting in April.

The results are in, and Zuri, which means good, nice, pretty and lovely in Swahili, won.

The Wolf’s Guenons are currently at the zoo’s lower monkey house waiting for a new habitat to be completed.
