SACRAMENTO—

Dignity Health, a non-profit hospital system, will be laying off hundreds of people in the Sacramento and Stockton areas come June.

A representative from the company noted that the layoffs are related to Dignity Health’s recent announcement that they are selling their outpatient laboratory outreach service line to New Jersey-based Quest Diagnostics.

The layoffs will strike a total of 465 workers in Carmichael, El Dorado Hills, Elk Grove, Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Rocklin, Roseville, Sacramento, Lathrop, Lodi, Manteca, Merced, Modesto, San Andreas, Stockton and Tracy, according to a filing with the state’s Employment Development Department.

The layoffs will be effective come June 24.

Dignity Health representatives say that the company is working to help the displaced workers find other jobs within or with Quest Diagnostics.
