Authorities have identified the two people killed in a plane crash near Auburn early Sunday morning.

Susanville residents Bruce Albright Rhymes, 59, and Kathy Lorraine Rhymes, 58, were found dead at the scene just east of the Auburn Municipal Airport.

Locating the crash proved to be difficult for authorities as the plane had gone cold, making it hard for CHP infrared cameras to find the single-engine plane. The plane was eventually found badly damaged in the trees.

The National Transportation Safety Board will be handling the investigation.
