Wednesday’s winds will help blow smoke through a Rancho Cordova neighborhood after Riverbend Park caught fire.
Between 15 and 20 acres burned early in the morning. The fire started sometime after midnight. A park ranger told FOX40 the area along the river trail is a popular place for homeless people to hangout and illegally camp.
Firefighters have not ruled what the official cause of the fire was. The flames were put out quickly, but firefighters will be in the park for most of the day keeping an eye on the dry brush and putting out hotspots before the wind can fuel them.
