Big Wake Weekend, Day 3: The Final Race

The race to be champion in The Big Wake lasted just ten minutes as drivers reached speeds of more than 195 mph to win the race.

Steve David with Oh Boy! Oberto won the race, with Graham Trucking placing second and the performance Chevrolet boat ended up in third.

The owner of Performance Chevrolet, Billy Schumacher was the previous champion of this race in 1967.

“I’m enjoying it a lot of the stress is off of me now. But when you drive one of these things it’s a stressful position to be in,” says Billy Schumacher.

H1 Unlimited, the promoters of the event, say more than 15,000 fans showed up to support the — event bringing an influx of $3-4 million to local economy.
