Train Derails in Denair, No Injuries Reported

A cargo train derailed in Denair Sunday afternoon. Authorities are saying that there doesn’t look be a concern over chemical spills.

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s reported the accident just before 5:30 p.m.

The accident is near E Zeering Road and N Santa Fe Avenue.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

The derailment affected about 25 cars along a stretch about 1/4 a mile long. Denair’s Amtrak station was damaged.

Due to the damage, Amtrak service from Modesto to Merced will be suspended until Monday. Buses will help riders get between Modesto and Merced.
