“At first, terrified. After everything happened, more angry.”
That’s a clerk you can see in surveillance video from a mobile phone store in Galt. He’s not wanting us to identify him for obvious reasons.
In the video you see a “customer,” a man in a construction worker outfit, draws a gun on him.
“I didn’t really know what was going on until I saw the gun. The I looked at his face and it looked like the guy from the first time,” the clerk told me.
You read that right: the clerk thinks the robber has hit his store before. Held-up by the same guy, only with a knife the first time, about a month ago.
The robber forces the clerk in back and starts loading cell phones into bags. When the clerk doesn’t move fast enough, the robber does the job himself.
The phones he’s stealing will never work. They’ve already been flagged, so whatever account they are activated on will be flagged. So beware if you are buying a phone from Craigslist of another third party.
As for the clerk, he can’t help but beware of every new customer who comes through his door, with fresh memories of what it’s like being on the wrong side of a gun.
The mobile store chain is offering thousands of dollar as a reward to anyone who can help them identify the robber.
