Vallejo Police say the man suspected of robbing a Church’s Chicken was spotted after he walked back to the scene of the crime.
Joseph Romer, 22, reportedly robbed the Solano Avenue restaurant at gunpoint, police say. After the Church’s Chicken robbery, investigators say Romer robbed a Rite Aid down the street.
While police were investigating the Church’s robbery, Romer was spotted by witnesses walking back down Solano Avenue.
Police say officers shouted at Romer to stop several times. When they tried to take him into custody, Romer struggled and officers had to use a Taser on him, according to police.
Investigators say the “gun” Romer used was simulated. No loss was reported at the Church’s Chicken robbery, but police say Romer had discarded $1,800 before being arrested.
“Romer has an extensive arrest history with the Vallejo Police Department including robbery, driving under the influence, domestic violence and petty theft,” Vallejo Police Lieutenant John Witney wrote in a news release.
Romer was booked into Solano County Jail for robbery and resisting arrest.
