This summer’s California State Fair will have a Disney feel, thanks to 11-foot-tall letters being installed at Cal Expo.
Monday morning, large cranes moved the giant letters into place. The “CALIFORNIA” letters once graced the entrance to California Adventure at Disneyland in Anaheim.
The letters were removed as part of the theme park’s recent remodel, and were donated to the organization, Friends of the California State Fair.
Thanks to a generous donation from Golden 1 Credit Union, the 11-foot-8-inch letters were placed on trucks, along with the rides for the State Fair, and driven to Sacramento.
The letters weigh between 5,000 lbs., the “I”, and almost 13,000 lbs., the “O”.
The public will be able to see the letters all lit up during the California State Fair, which kicks off July 12.
