Highway 50 is closed in both directions because of a fire burning along the road.

The fire started just after noon near Kyburz, in El Dorado County. To keep firefighters safe, Highway 50 was closed to traffic. No word what time it will reopen.

Eastbound traffic is being held at Sly Park Road in Pollock Pines, and westbound traffic is stopped at Meyers.

CHP crews report the fire started when a truck blew a tire along Highway 50.

Firefighters from Camino Fire and Cal Fire are involved, and are using air tankers and ground crews.
