Forty percent of the wildfire burning just west of Kyburz in the El Dorado National Forest has been contained, the U.S. Forest Service said Tuesday.

Firefighters believe they’ll have control of the blaze by Tuesday evening.

The Kyburz Fire started early Monday afternoon and spread slowly, and shut down Highway 50 in the area for a few hours. Only one lane is open, and traffic is being escorted by Cal Trans between Alder Creek and the Sand Flat Campground.

No evacuations have been ordered, though staff and campers at the Sugarloaf Fine Arts Camp left voluntarily.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
