Officials are unveiling six new locations throughout Sacramento and Yolo Counties where people can safely get rid of their unwanted medications.

The locations are listed below:

California State University, Sacramento – Student Health Services Pharmacy 6000 J Street Sacramento, CA 95819 (916) 278-6040.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department North Patrol Division 5510 Garfield Avenue Sacramento, CA 95841 (916) 874-1021.

Jefferson Pharmacy 1029 Jefferson Boulevard West Sacramento, CA 95691 (916) 371-2022.

El Macero Pharmacy 417 Mace Boulevard, #D Davis, CA 95618 (530) 231-6429.

Eagle Drug 101 Main Street Winters, CA 95694 (530) 795-4123.

The project, called “Don’t Rush to Flush” is made possible through a grant from the Rose Foundation – an environmental, public and consumer health advocacy group.

Unused medications flushed down the toilet are being blamed for polluting up to 80% of U.S. waterways, according to public health officials.
