A cook at a midtown restaurant had to take down and disarm a man who barged into the kitchen and grabbed a knife, police say.

Police showed up at Firestone Public House near 16th and K Streets just before 5 p.m. Tuesday. A fight between a restaurant employee and an armed man was reportedly going on, according to police reports.

When officers showed up, they found two people holding down the alleged attacker.

Witnesses told police that 52-year-old Clark Delano had burst into the restaurant and started making a scene. Soon, Delano had jumped over the counter and into the kitchen, where he grabbed a knife and tried to stab a cook.

Another cook and a restaurant goer were able to tackle Delano and get the knife away. They then held the Delano down, even though they say he continued to resist, until officers could show up.

Delano was first taken to the hospital for evaluation before being booked at Sacramento County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon charges.
