Officers Scouring Stockton School for Man Who Shot at Police

A helicopter hovers overhead, helping authorities search for a man who opened fire on officers.


Officers are busy scouring the campus of August Knodt Elementary School for a suspect in an officer-involved shooting incident.

One person was shot by police a little after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Stockton Police told FOX40.

The shooting stemmed from an attempted traffic stop near the school. At some point during the stop, a person opened fire on officers, police say.

Officers returned fire and hit one suspect. Witnesses at the scene told FOX40 that they heard around 15 gunshots.

SWAT has since been called to the campus to help try and find the shooter.

The school is not in session.
