Driver Sentenced for Hitting Young Kids on Way to School

A woman is sent to prison for 15 years Monday in connection with the death of a young boy and injuring his brother in Citrus Heights last year.

In October, Juan and Henry Perez-Rocha were walking in a crosswalk at Mariposa Avenue and Greenback Lane when a car hit them.

Both were rushed to the hospital, 6-year-old Henry died from his injuries in January. Juan was treated and released last year.

Tresa Bales-Sterba pleaded no contest to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, in addition to other charges earlier this year.

Monday morning, Bales-Sterba was sentenced to 15 years.
