“It all costs something,” one fair-goer told FOX40 Monday.

At the California State Fair, it costs $12 to get in, $10 to park, and most lunches average at about $12 with a drink.

Motivated to find cheaper alternatives, FOX40 searched the fairgrounds.

Music is free, and several rides and booths only cost $1-2 — like the live monkey show, the slides, and the carnival games.

When it’s time to hydrate, look for a water fountain. Most water bottles are upwards of about $3. And, as an inexpensive healthy meal alternative, we brought our own snacks in and had no problems with security.

And for $5 you can remember the day, and take pictures the old fashioned way at the photo booth.
