A man has died after going for a late-night swim in a man-made lake in the Elk Grove area.
Around midnight, the man and a family member decided to go for a swim in the Laguna West neighborhood. One was able to make it back to shore, and realized the other was under the water.
Emergency crews from Cosumnes Fire Department found the swimmer submerged in about ten feet of water. He was not wearing a life jacket, and didn’t have any flotation device.
CPR was performed as the man was taken to the hospital, but he later died.
Investigators believe at this time alcohol was involved in the decision for the late-night swim.
