A wrong-way driver caused a head-on collision near Del Paso Road late Saturday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the driver of the wrong-way vehicle drove south in the fast lane of northbound I-5. The wrong-way car collided with another vehicle, containing two people, heading north. Both cars sustained heavy damage.
The crash caused a massive delay, backing up traffic on northbound I-5 near the Highway 99/70 split for over an hour while officers attended to the scene.
All three people involved in the collision sustained minor to moderate injuries and were taken to the UC Davis Medical Center. CHP is investigating whether or not alcohol played a role in the incident.
