Sacramento Police say four children between the ages of 10 months and 12 years were all left alone  in a car by their father, Corey Houston, 42.

Investigators say it all started when Houston fled a DUI check point on Marysville Boulevard and Harris Avenue.

Police said Houston led them on a chase that lasted one mile before stopping the car in an alley and running to his home.

All the the while his four kids were still in the car.

Houston said he was not high or drunk and fled the scene because he felt threatened when officers asked for his ID.

Houston admitted he did not have ID and said police did not have the right to ask him for it.

Officers set up a perimeter Saturday night and asked residents to exit the home where Houston was hiding.

Police say Houston and his wife came out.

Houston’s wife was arrested for assisting Houston as he hid in the home.

Police say the children are okay and are now staying with a relative.
