Modesto Homicide Under Investigation

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department is looking into a homicide that happened Saturday night near Briggs Avenue and North Martin Luther King Drive.

Officials received a call from a witness who, while walking home from work, saw the victim under a car port at around 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The witness went home and called the police.

Detectives are currently investigating the homicide. The owners of the home where the victim was found did not know the crime had happened until contacted by law enforcement, but are cooperating with police.

The Modesto Police Department was the first on the scene, though County Sheriff’s Department later took over the investigation.

The victim has not been identified. The cause of death has not been released due to this being an active investigation.
