BUTTE COUNTY—

Authorities have uncovered two marijuana growing gardens while serving a search warrant at an area southeast of Oroville.

Butte County Sheriff’s deputies with the Special Enforcement Unit showed up at a home near Lower Wyandotte Road and Foothill Boulevard Monday to serve a search warrant, according to a press release.

While searching the area, authorities happened upon two marijuana gardens: one in the middle of an olive orchard, and another near a creek bed.

Ramiro Sanchez-Pineda, a man in his 40’s from Mexico, was arrested for tending to the garden. Deputies say he had a fake green card along with a medical marijuana card. He is said to have entered the country illegally about six months ago and obtained the marijuana card in Chico.

A total of 425 pot plants were taken from the site.

This bust is the third marijuana growing operation bust in the past few days. Thursday, Butte County authorities announced they had seized more than 1,000 pot plants last week.
