Police say they are investigating a string of robberies in Midtown that could be linked.
The robberies come as a surprise to people who live and work in Midtown, for they say the sections that got hit are considered peaceful and relatively safe.
One robbery happened at the intersection of 16th and P Streets. One business owner says he always tells his customers to be careful.
“I always tell customers walk in a group [to] be safe because a lot of people are getting robbed during daylight. So I hear a lot of stories, so it’s really scary,” said Nishiki Restaurant Manager Norman Kwong.
Another robbery took place at the intersection of 18th and O Streets.
“I don’t know why they’re doing it, but people are getting crazy now,” said Peace Store Owner Jayanti Patel.
So crazy, the suspects were bold enough to rob someone in the 1800 block of 19th Streets, near a grocery store with security that is on 24 hours a day.
Police say, in all, there were a total of five robberies over the weekend. According to authorities, each time the suspects brandished a gun, approached individuals and demanded money and property from them.
